Sightings

Over the week-end (16-17 January 2016) a pride of 5 lions chased a small herd of Buffalo through the Maseke fence, they killed one young Buffalo on my side and ate him up .  This all happened on our Estate Managers property, who submitted these photos.

Thank you to our estate manager, Gerrie van Zyl, for submitting this fascinating story that took place on his property recently.

A young Leopard female (THE HUNTER) caught a +-3year old Kudu bull. It was quite a battle but she managed to smother it by the nose. I put my motion camera up and this is what happen next . She came back the first afternoon and ate several times until the next morning. She came back the following night and ate again. Then a big male Lion (THE THIEF ) came and stole it from her. After he was finished eating, a Jackal (THE BEGGAR) came and took all the scraps and finally the Vultures (THE UNDERTAKERS) came in and cleaned the place out .

Thank you to ©Roy Terlien for sending us these incredible scenes taken from the river’s edge @ Grietjie on the 5th November 2015. This is one lucky Waterbuck!

We are not sure if the next sequence, also taken at the river’s edge @ Grietjie, was the same crocodile. But it sure is hungry!
